Privacy policy

  1. Expert Alumni (also referred to as “we” and “us”) explicitly ask you when we need information that personally identifies a person (“Personal Information”) who is or wishes to be a member (also referred to here as “Member” and “you”). We use Personal Information to maintain a database of candidates who may be selected by reference to factors, such as experience and preferences for types of work and presented to businesses and other organisations (“Clients”) interested in engaging suitable candidates from time to time (the “Purposes”). For example, we ask you for your name, e-mail name and other personal information when you register and at other times you will supply further information to enable us to fulfil the Purposes. We use your Personal Information to better understand your requirements of your membership of Expert Alumni. We may send you periodic newsletters and occasionally inform you of new Client programs, as well as new Expert Alumni features, services and products, unless you opt-out of such notices. All the services that Expert Alumni provide to you from time to time, through as well as by other means of communication are referred to here as the “Service”.
  2. Expert Alumni does not ask you to provide personal details of a potentially sensitive nature, such as your ethnic origin or religious beliefs. If however you choose to supply such information to Expert Alumni voluntarily, in doing so you consent to such information being viewable by Expert Alumni personnel and as part of candidate information supplied to Clients and will be processed in accordance with this policy.
  3. You MUST be 18 years old or over to join Expert Alumni website and/or attend Expert Alumni events.
  4. Expert Alumni will not disclose your Personal Information other than to Clients where aspects of your Personal Information are relevant, under the principles adopted by Expert Alumni from time to time, to Clients search criteria (“Role Criteria”) for specific roles or Clients employment programs. Clients agreements with Expert Alumni contain provisions to hold your Personal Information (once it is disclosed to them) as confidential information that is not be disclosed to third parties (other than, where relevant, within the Clients group of companies and affiliates to such personnel of the group companies and affiliates as have need to view it).
  5. To make sure that the Personal Information you provide to Expert Alumni is correct and current, you may review and update your Personal Information at any time. Charges may apply for updates.
  6. Information that you choose to provide to another web site will be subject to the privacy policies of that web site. For example, if you follow a hyperlink from Expert to another site (e.g., an advertiser), information you provide there is subject to that site’s privacy policy rather than Expert Alumnis privacy policy.
  7. By its very nature and purpose, Expert Alumni website is a medium by which people choose to make available details of their experience, availability and work preferences for searches and potential disclosure by Clients. If you participate in the social networking elements of the Expert Alumni web site, you do so on the understanding that other members may contact you via the web site and your e-mail address(es), if these are visible in the social networking features of the web site. Clients may wish to issue notification and invitation messages to Members from time to time, you can choose to stop receiving such messages at any time. Any the Personal Information you enter onto Expert Alumni site and choose to be displayed to a Client, will be viewable by employees of the Client and their permitted agents.
  8. We may use Personal Information to improve your interaction with the Expert Alumni site and with other members of Expert Alumni.
  9. Expert Alumnis operations are located in the United States of America, the United Kingdom and countries in the European Union and Expert Alumni is governed by the laws protecting privacy and personal data in those countries. Expert Alumnis Clients and Client personnel may be located in any country. As such, although Expert Alumni will use all reasonable endeavours to secure binding obligations to maintain confidentiality and security, your Personal Information may (once you consent to a Client receiving it) be viewed by Clients and their agents personnel in countries which do not have the same level of legal protection for personal information as exists in the United States of America, the United Kingdom or the European Union. You consent to this transfer of your Personal Information as part of your consent to disclosure of your Personal Information.
  10. Your Personal Information may be used by us to promote to you Expert Alumni events, services and products that we have available now or may choose to introduce in the future. By signing up for Expert Alumni membership you are opting into Expert Alumni announcements and newsletters, you can opt-out of these at any time by changing your account settings.
  11. Expert Alumni may disclose general information about its members (consolidated by geographic location, job title etc) but not individual Personal Information to third parties other than Clients, without the members permission.
  12. Expert Alumni uses cookies or other similar software to collect data about users to track their movements around its website and in order to assist those users to automatically and effortlessly log in on subsequent visits to its site.
  13. You may leave Expert Alumni at any time. For legal and regulatory reasons Expert Alumni shall be entitled to preserve your Personal Information in Expert Alumnis archive records but, once you have indicated to Expert Alumni that you no longer wish your Personal Information available for searching, your Personal Information will as soon as practicable cease to be available for Client searches.
  14. If at any time you believe that Expert Alumni has not adhered to these principles, please notify us by email to and we will use all commercially reasonable efforts to promptly determine and correct the problem.
